Job Description General Summary Under general supervision, interprets and evaluates physicians' medication orders to provide prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices. Advises/consults with patients and families, medical and nursing staff according to professional standards and practices. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, culture, ethnicity, and specific individual diagnostic needs of the patients served in his/her department. He/she must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group (pediatric, adolescents and/or geriatric patient group, culture and diagnostic specific). Consistently expresses and demonstrates compassion and courtesy for patients. Extends courtesy and support to patient's families/visitors. Qualifications Education & Experience Licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required. If licensure is pending reciprocation, it must be completed before the end of the probationary period. Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy, or PharmD from a college or university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is required. A Doctor of Pharmacy or clinical Master's of Science degree and completion of a pharmacy practice residency is preferred.
