Patient Care:

Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the hospital setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, and national standards of practice as directed by the physician preceptor.

Patient Education:

Provides patients and/or family members with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness
Serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate

Documentation:

Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed

Continuing Education:

Ensures clinical competence
Stays abreast of changes in medical management
Participates in a variety of health care education activities

Regulation:

Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues

Requirements:

Master s Degree in Nursing required; Doctorate Degree preferred
Licensed in State of Alabama as a Nurse Practitioner; required
Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as an RN; preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication required
Maintains working knowledge of skills and current technology; required
Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics; required
