Job Description: Head Football Coach Overview: The Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Football Coach for the Penn High School Kingsmen Football Program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coaching, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to education-based athletics by inspiring and mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field. The Head Football Coach is responsible for developing and implementing effective training programs, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the overall success of the football program. Commitment to Excellence: A head coach for the Penn Kingsmen Athletic Department must have a commitment to excellence with a dedication to achieving the highest standards of performance, both individually and as a team, in every aspect of the sport. You must be dedicated to continuous improvement, have a strong work ethic, and focus on achieving success both on and off the field. This commitment encompasses various elements of student-athlete development, including, but not limited to: Skill development: Help student-athletes commit to improving their skills through regular practice, training, and seeking feedback from coaches and teammates. Physical conditioning: Motivate athletes to prioritize their fitness and conditioning to ensure they are in peak physical condition to perform at their best during games and practices. Teamwork: Teach student-athletes to understand the importance of working together cohesively as a team, supporting and relying on each other to achieve common goals. Discipline: Train athletes to demonstrate discipline in adhering to team rules, following training regimens, and maintaining focus during games and practices. Sportsmanship: Model a commitment to excellence that extends beyond winning games; it includes displaying good sportsmanship, respect for opponents, officials, and teammates, and upholding the values of fair play and integrity. Academic performance: Instill the importance of balancing athletics with academics by challenging student-athletes to strive for excellence in the classroom by maintaining good grades and meeting academic responsibilities. Leadership: Prepare student-athletes to take on leadership roles within the team, setting positive examples for their peers, and motivating others to strive for excellence. Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive football program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Plan and execute engaging and effective practice and workout sessions that focus on fundamental techniques, strategy, and game preparation. Evaluate and assess student-athlete performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement strategies for individual and team improvement. Conduct a robust off-season sports performance program, including physical conditioning, weight training, football skill development (physical), film study and classroom sessions (mental), competition and scrimmages (i.e. 7 on 7, lineman competitions, and other opportunities), team bonding, and community service. Communicate and promote opportunities for student-athletes to participate in high-quality camps, clinics, or training/skill development sessions with outside organizations. Create and maintain a positive and supportive team environment that promotes academic success, character development, and personal growth. Establish and enforce team policies, rules, and expectations regarding behavior, academic standards, and eligibility requirements. Coordinate with school administrators, athletic department staff, and other coaches to ensure compliance with school policies, IHSAA/NFHS regulations, and safety protocols. Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, promoting values of integrity, discipline, respect, accountability, and responsibility. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and the community to provide updates, share information, and address concerns. Recruit and retain talented student-athletes by building relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, and coaches. This includes actively engaging with all students and maintaining visibility in the schools, youth development programs (Granger Rocket Football / Flag Football), P-H-M middle school programs, and sub-varsity programs at Penn. Collaborate with assistant coaches to delegate responsibilities, plan strategies, and maximize the effectiveness of the coaching staff. Represent the school and the football program with professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm at all times, both on and off the field. Participate in professional development activities, coaching clinics, and training seminars to stay current on coaching techniques, trends, and best practices. Engage in media events and opportunities to promote the football program, student-athletes, school, and community. Maintain active memberships with professional organizations including, but not limited to, the Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA). Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Education and classroom teaching experience is preferred. Previous coaching experience at the high school level or above, with a proven track record of success in developing athletes and building competitive programs. Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, strategies, and techniques, with the ability to teach and communicate effectively with student-athletes of varying skill levels. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes to achieve their full potential. Commitment to upholding high standards of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity, both on and off the field. Ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, athletic department staff, parents, and community members to support the overall mission and goals of the school. Valid coaching certification and/or teaching credential preferred, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and certification renewal. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the football season schedule, including practices, games, and team events. Must pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies, regulations, and codes of conduct.
