Peer Support Specialist: Wellness and Recovery Center General Description: The purpose of this position and our program is to provide peer support in a Wellness and Recovery Center (WRC) setting to members living with mental health and/or co-occurring issues, so they may begin and/or maintain their path to recovery. Wellness and Recovery Center peer support staff work Wednesday through Friday 1 pm to 8 pm, plus an occasional special event on the weekend. This position is 16 hours weekly working two of the days listed above. The work is primarily performed at 3 Milford Mill Road in Pikesville and at times off-site for outings. Schedule: Part time Reports to: WRC Coordinator who provides Peer Support Specialists with individual and group supervision. Required Education, Knowledge and Skills/Abilities to Perform Essential Job Functions: Personal experience living in recovery with mental health and/or co-occurring issues or experience supporting a family member, and the ability to establish rapport with our members in ways that cultivate empowerment and esteem is necessary. Demonstrate respectful initiative to perform tasks resulting in a safe and supportive learning environment. Peer Support Specialists provide one-one-one and group peer support to WRC members during Center hours on-site and on-line. Ability to work as a team with their Coordinator to operate the center by preparing and facilitating developmental / informative / social activities that support wellness and recovery; transporting members to and from the Center; checking the ride line; and communicating the pickup schedule to riders. Additional tasks include serving food/refreshments, putting out games, cleaning up, and engaging members during Center hours. Experience driving minivans is desirable and a good driving record is essential. Certifications: WRAP required; CPRS preferred. Summary of Essential Functions, Responsibilities and Duties Transport individuals in NW Baltimore County to and from the Center in Pikesville Transport individuals to scheduled activities at other locations Utilize remote technology - warm line phone and online platforms such as zoom to interact with members 1:1 and in group sessions Prepare written summary of each peer support session Knowledge of PRS ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and confidentiality Maintain safe and supportive Center environment by responding to support requests Ability to work with groups and members who may display behavioral health issues Clean up from the evening activities Utilize computer systems for communication, time/attendance and online training Perform other duties as requested by WRC Coordinator FLSA: Non-exempt
