Job Description Job Description CHANCE Recovery (Community Helping Addicts Negotiate Change Effectively) is a non-profit organization that helps adults recovery from substance abuse and assists with homelessness. It is awesome. Through grants, county contracts, and other funding we are able to guide those struggling with addiction to help them in a variety of ways and place them on a path to independence and recovery.
You must be a
Certified Peer Support Specialist. You would be based out of our
2nd Chance Shelter in Albany, Friday thru Monday, 9:30am - 8:00pm. You work with other staff to support those struggling with addiction and homelessness and give support to those in recovery. You will spend time with peers in our shelter helping them to meet their daily needs and progress to independence.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you know the impact you can have others in their journey through your own lived experience and training. We want you to join us so we can help connect you with people in need. You should expect to:
Engage with peers and help assess their needs and collect necessary data.
Work with those peers to set goals and help them achieve them.
Act and communicate in a way that is culturally sensitive and promotes inclusion and equity for all.
Serve as an advocate for peers helping them in their goals to navigate government and other systems to gain access to the benefits they need.
Assist with peer transportation for emergency needs.
Other duties that help support the peer and the organization.

Certified Peer Support Specialist
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Valid drivers license with record acceptable to our insurance
Ability to use computers including email and be trained on our database.
At least 2 years of recovery/sobriety.
