Payroll Specialist - Baltimore, MD
About the Company and Overview of the Payroll Specialist role:
- CFS is partnering with a fantastic, repeat, healthcare client. They are an independent non-profit located in the heart of Baltimore City.
- Due to growth, they are looking to bring on a Payroll Specialist to join their medium sized accounting team. For the right candidate, this position can become permanent.
- The company prides itself on being very relaxed, having a family feel, and community oriented. They are in a brand new office space in Baltimore City with free parking and in a very safe area.
- Schedule: 8am-4:30pm M-F. Position is 100% in office in Baltimore city to start
- Hybrid-2 days work from home, 3 days in office after 30-90 days
- Reports to the Controller
Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:
- Process payroll and review timesheets on a biweekly basis for 400+ employees using Kronos
- Set up new hires
- Prepare payroll journal entries
- Process rate increases, garnishments, child support, bonuses, incentives, and tax deductions
- Receive approvals for timesheets from various supervisors at different locations
- Cut checks for employees who request physical checks
- Close Payroll for the period and reviewing payroll register
- Monthly reconciliation of 403B and prepare and submit of 403B file to bank
- Attend webinars for changes within Kronos and general knowledge
- Year End and Quarter End Process - Reconciliation of taxes/Audit/W2 Prep
- Distribute W-2 and 1095-C
Requirements for the Payroll Specialist:
- 2-5+ years of payroll processing experience required
- Experience with general accounting preferred
- Experience using Kronos a plus
- Proficient with Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen as well as provide general vaccination records (covid, flu, etc.)
