Job Description The primary responsibilities of the Payroll Practitioner 1 is to be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining employee personnel records, and conducting payroll reporting and auditing/quality control duties.
- Checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards.
- Maintaining time and attendance records.
- Entering and auditing pertinent new hire information into the payroll/timekeeping system (W-4's and Direct Deposits).
- Performs a wide variety of payroll processing activities including computing wages, overtime payments, and retroactive amounts, calculating and recording payroll deductions and processing terminations.
- Balancing and controlling earning and deduction uploads, via entering data into databases and spreadsheets.
- Calculating and preparing GL entries for tax related items.
- Researching and resolving pay issues.
- Processing wage garnishments and levies.
- Ability to create ad-hoc reports on demand.
- Help develop new process flows to streamline processes.
Required Skills- Must be detail oriented, organized and accurate.
- Microsoft Excel Intermediate or Advanced.
- Must be able to analyze information and make logical conclusions.
- Must have proven mathematical skills.
- Overall computer literacy skills.
- 10-key by touch and type 45 wpm.
- Basic knowledge of federal and state labor and tax laws.
- Must demonstrate integrity and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with employees at all levels.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, management and department head staff.
- Must be customer service oriented and able to adjust to change.
- Experience working with Lawson (Infor) is preferred.
- Experience working with Kronos Workforce Central is preferred.
Required Experience- A minimum of 2-4 years' experience in the payroll field
- High School Diploma
