Payroll Tax Specialist - Essential Tasks:

  • Streamlined Processes: Prepare and monitor payroll, taxes, and accounts payable processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Monitor payroll processes to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations and internal policies.
  • Timely Deposits: Ensure all payroll tax deposits are balanced and deposited promptly.
  • Liaison with Tax Offices: Act as a liaison with federal and state tax offices when necessary.
  • Tax Filings: Prepare federal and state tax filings, including 940/940 Schedule.
  • Data Management: Maintain consolidated payroll and tax data for quarterly reconciliation.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting: Reconcile payroll and tax withholding records, deposit federal income tax withholdings, and support the preparation of Federal W-2 forms and data. Reconcile and submit Social Security and Medicare documents.
  • Keeping Updated: Stay current with federal and state payroll regulations and train staff as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Preferred Skills for the Payroll Manager:

  • Experience Matters: 2+ years of experience in a payroll accounting and tax filing environment.
  • Education: A degree in a Business-related field is preferred.
  • Expertise: Progressive payroll experience with knowledge of federal and state laws, aggregate tax filing requirements, and W-2 reporting.
