The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio is partnered with an established family-owned business in Ashland, Ohio. We are seeking a Payroll Manager to join their team. Salary up to $75K is being offered based on skillset and experience.

What does the Payroll Manager do? - The Payroll Manager is highly organized and detail-oriented. In this vital role, the Payroll Manager will manage all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while also ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in payroll management, payroll processing, payroll tax returns, and a strong grasp of corporate accounting practices.

Payroll Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple clients

Efficiently manage payroll for a large number of employees, which will involve multiple locations or divisions.

Establish adaptable processes to manage the intricacies of high-volume payroll effectively.

Oversee the entire payroll process from start to finish, including data entry, wage calculations, and payment processing for multiple clients.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.

Stay updated on changes in payroll and tax regulations.

Manage the payment of payroll taxes to the appropriate agencies.

Handle tax reporting and ensure compliance with tax filing deadlines.

Partner with HR/clients to verify employee data accuracy and address any discrepancies.

Review and reconcile payroll reports for accuracy.

Prepare and file necessary tax forms and reports, such as W-2's and 1099s.

Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management.

Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees.

Maintain accurate payroll records for each employee and client.

Ensure records are secure and comply with data privacy regulations.

Must demonstrate discretion and ability to oversee and maintain confidential information.

Payroll Manager Skills & Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of Payroll Management experience or a similar role.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.

Possess proficient experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Ceridian, Paychex, or Peoplesoft.

Demonstrate proficiency in double-entry bookkeeping and the accurate reconciliation of accounts.

Experience managing payroll processes for a large number of employees.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload as needed.

Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.

Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent written and oral communication required.
