Job Description Join our team. Laredo Medical Center's Interventional Radiology (IR) is now hiring a PRN Patient Care Technician (PCT) to work in LMC's 326 bed acute care hospital. Laredo Medical Center offers a full range of imaging services to provide patients with diagnostic and therapeutic services. Our imaging and radiology services teams work with doctors, nurses and other clinicians to deliver comprehensive care. Our digital imaging technology allows doctors to access test results immediately, so treatment can begin more quickly. Our trained imaging technologists are certified with advanced registries and are focused on patient safety and comfort. Position's Purpose and Essential Functions: The PCT delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT's skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). POSITION INSIGHTS: Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the shift, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information within their competency. Assists with patient activities of daily living: meals, bathing, oral care, grooming and elimination. Changes bed linens as needed. Obtaining the collection of specimens Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs but does not start or administer intravenous fluids. Assists with patient mobility and medical equipment adequate to the patient's condition and needs. Communicates all observations related to patient care and/or condition to nursing staff. Stores and restocks supplies as assigned. Cross-train to unit clerk Performs a variety of tasks. Job Requirement Include: Education: Preferred: High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent. Experience: Preferred: 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in Nursing Program. Licenses/Certificates: Required Certification: Basic Life Support obtained within 30 days of start date. Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Tech.
