APN Healthcare Solutions is urgently hiring multiple Patient Care Technician for our client in Rochester, New York for a 13 weeks contract with a very high likelihood of multiple extensions

Job Description: Patient Care Technician

Experience: 1 + years of relevant experience

Pay rate : $20-23/hr DOE

Shift: D/N Rotate Shift

Hours: 36 hrs/week

Certification Required: Active AHA BLS, PCT Certificate

License Required: N/A

Minimum 1 year of experience.

Hospital experience required.

Job Description:

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will play a pivotal role in the healthcare team, specializing in providing direct care and support to patients in various medical settings. Your primary responsibility as a Patient Care Technician will be to assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), which includes tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding patients as necessary.

One of the key functions of a Patient Care Technician is to monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood sugar levels.

Additionally, a Patient Care Technician plays a pivotal role in helping patients with mobility and ambulation, which involves tasks such as transferring patients from bed to chair, aiding them in walking, and utilizing assistive devices like wheelchairs or walkers.

Assisting patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

Monitoring vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood sugar levels.

Aiding in patient mobility and ambulation, including transfers and use of assistive devices like wheelchairs and walkers.

Performing basic medical procedures under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals, in compliance with state regulations.

Collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory testing, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting observations and interventions.

Promptly reporting significant changes in a patient's condition to the nursing or medical staff.

Providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during challenging situations.

Cleaning and maintaining medical equipment to ensure proper functionality and hygiene.

Adhering strictly to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections within the healthcare setting.

Collaborating closely with nurses, doctors, and other members of the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive care.

Offering patient education on conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.

Implementing measures to maintain patient safety and prevent potential hazards.

Performing clerical tasks as assigned, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.

Demonstrating cultural sensitivity and respect for patients' diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
