Job Overview: Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal. must demonstrate awareness of patients rights in all aspects of patient care and report to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort. professional staff with basic life support principles. The Obstetrical Clerical Specialist performs general receptionist and clerical duties to support unit customers. The Clerical Specialist enters and extracts data using the electronic health record and demonstrates confidentiality related to all health information. Responsible for submission of Birth Certificates and Paternity Affidavits and associated tasks. Unit Description: The OB Unit at The Women Hospital specializes in routine and high risk obstetrical care for the patient, the newborn and the family. The obstetrical area consists of 28 private LDRP rooms, 10 antepartum rooms and 2 observation rooms. Our goal is to provide a safe and satisfying birth experience. We provide single room maternity care through labor and delivery and provide couplet care for the delivered patient and newborn. We also provide inpatient antepartum care and support for high-risk pregnancies through a multidisciplinary team based on the unique needs of the patient. Family-centered care is provided to support the emotional, physical and psychosocial needs of the childbearing family. Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education: Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire. Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred Successfully complete PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
