Job Overview: Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal. must demonstrate awareness of patients rights in all aspects of patient care and report to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort. professional staff with basic life support principles. Unit Description: Deaconess Union County Hospital opened in 1946 and serves the Morganfield, KY community. The critical access hospital has 25 beds. Deaconess Union County Hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department, a hospital-based ambulance service and a full range of diagnostic services including lab, imaging, and mammography, as well as physical therapy, cardiopulmonary care, and surgical services. Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education: Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire. Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred Successfully complete PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
