Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Patient Care Tech (PCT) to join our team at our Wound Care clinic. This is a fulltime, day shift. The Cedar Park Regional Medical Center Wound Care Center is an outpatient clinic that specializes in treating patients with chronic, slow- or non-healing wounds. We offer evidence-based protocols and cutting-edge treatment to ensure our patients' wounds heal quickly. Our specially trained team of doctors, nurses and technicians provide comprehensive and cost-effective wound care to all patients, enabling them to return to a full life free from the pain of chronic wounds. Responsibilities Collects, reports, and documents vital signs timely and accurately and immediately notifies RN of abnormalities Correctly obtain and label lab specimens using Universal Precautions Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the RN as indicated by the patient's plan of care Completes treatments, interventions, tests, and procedures in timely and accurate manner Inspects the skin on pressure areas and report any abnormal redness, open or blistered areas of concern to the RN immediately Demonstrates how to accurately measure wounds and/or skin ulcers and assists with positioning for the purpose of photographing the ulcer or wound Assists with application of a negative pressure wound vacuum, Unna Boot compression bandage, multiplayer compression bandage and assists with off-loading casts and pressure devices Ambulates, positions and repositions patients using proper body mechanics to maintain a safe patient transfer, utilizing transfer equipment such as gait belt, transfer boards etc. appropriately Identifies respiratory distress signs and symptoms and verbalizes effective interventions within the scope of practice and reports abnormal respiratory conditions to the RN Appropriately initiates emergency care measures when needed Prepares patient for discharge to home, nursing home, or transfer to another facility. Collaborates with the patient, family and team members to ensure appropriate discharge disposition.
