Overview The Pathology Support Technician II works under the supervision of the Anatomic Pathology Manager and Pathologists. The team member is responsible for accurate and timely processing of requests for send-outs of pathology records, slides, and blocks and follow-up with physicians and requestors to obtain additional information as needed. Order, track and provide updates to requestors on the status of their send-out requests. Analyze and respond appropriately to legal requests for records. Ensure documentation is prepared and/or received and maintained in compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations. File, retrieve, and maintain pathology blocks and slides per CAP and NHLS laboratory retention and disposal policies. Prepare packages for pickup and delivery by FedEx and other carriers. Support Novant Health's pathologists and ordering clinicians to provide exceptional patient care by fulfilling send-out requests in an accurate and timely manner Let Novant Health be the destination for your professional growth. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Experience: 3 years of Clerical experience in the medical field, preferred. 3 years of Clerical experience in Pathology or Laboratory Medicine, preferred. Additional skills required: Working knowledge of the computer keyboard and must be capable of being trained on the pathology computer system. Proper telephone etiquette. Proper filing of slides/blocks. Confirm two patient identifiers on all materials received in and released from the lab. Additional skills preferred: Beaker/Epic Experience.
