TITLE: Partnership and Research Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Office of Sponsored Programs REPORTS TO: Director of Sponsored Programs EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Kentucky State University is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual for the Partnership and Research Coordinator position. The successful candidate will: 1) assist with research projects and help build the capacity of STEM faculty for further research. 2) support STEM faculty and Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) staff with establishing and managing partnerships with industry, other universities, and other nonprofits and ensure that partnerships are managed efficiently and objectives are achieved. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Under the supervision of the Director of OSP, the Partnership, and Research Coordinator will work primarily with computer science faculty and other STEM faculty and assist faculty with bibliographic and internet research, administrative tasks, programming, data analysis, scheduling, and other tasks related to their research projects. The Partnership and Research Coordinator will also coordinate partnerships with industry, other universities, and nonprofits relevant to the research interests of computer science and STEM faculty. Duties will include collaborating with computer science faculty and OSP staff on creating training opportunities, such as internships, for STEM students and assisting with obtaining funding supporting university-industry partnerships and research. The Partnership and Research Coordinator will also participate in training and professional development related to research and grant project administration. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Partnership Development Engage in outreach by attending fairs, conferences, and related events, and follow up on contacts to identify possibilities for collaborative research and other projects involving computer science and other STEM faculty and students and external partners. Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with external organizations, including industry partners, other universities, and nonprofit organizations, by facilitating meetings, exchanging information, and developing partnership proposals. Collaborate with OSP staff and STEM faculty to ensure partnerships are mutually beneficial, advance research initiatives, and enhance the university's reputation. Coordinate signing contracts and agreements between the university and external partners and assist with establishing timelines for meeting objectives. Assist OSP staff and STEM faculty with developing a research council consisting of industry partners and convene council meetings. Facilitate communication among partners and monitor progress toward objectives. Research Coordination Collaborate with STEM faculty on all aspects of the administration of research projects, including planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. Assist faculty with research activities, including programming, data analysis, data visualization, and preparing materials for research presentations. Assist in maintaining data repositories and ensuring data integrity and security. Organize and schedule research-related events, including a seminar series to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration. Attend and present research at research conferences with faculty as needed. Grant Project Support Investigate research funding opportunities and gather materials and information needed to develop STEM research grant proposals. Assist in developing and submitting research proposals, including drafting proposal components and preparing charts and graphs for proposals. Review and edit proposals and proposal budgets to ensure compliance with guidelines. Collaborate with faculty on the implementation of grant projects. Documentation and Reporting Maintain a calendar for and assist STEM faculty with meeting reporting requirements for partnership agreements, contracts, and grants. Maintain files and develop a tracking system for partnership agreements, research activities, and grant proposals. Coordinate the preparation and processing of invoices as needed. Prepare regular reports on the progress of research projects and partnership activities for university leadership, partners, and other stakeholders. Assist OSP staff with promoting faculty's research activities, via newsletters, website development, press releases, and other means. OTHER DUTIES: The position will perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a STEM, business, or social sciences field; master's degree preferred. Experience in project management, outreach, partnership development, research, or grant administration. Experience in private industry preferred. Licensing and Certifications: None. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge of research methodologies and research ethics Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions and procedures. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information Ability to develop and maintain calendars and schedule meetings and appointments Ability to plan, organize, implement, and administer complex recordkeeping systems and procedures Commitment to fostering a cooperative work environment Experience with computer programming, data analysis and visualization tools is a plus. Familiarity with the educational and research landscape and areas of innovation in Kentucky is also a plus. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
