Posting Details Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number: Position Title: Part time Surgical Tech and Sterile Processing Clinical Instructor Position is: Part Time Position Type: Faculty Position (Full Time/Part Time) Department/Ofc.: Health Sciences Position Description: Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is seeking a Part time Surgical Tech and Sterile Processing Clinical Instructor to teach Surgical Tech and Sterile Processing credit courses. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for teaching opportunities on a per course basis. Be a part of our talented instructional team.Position Summary:The responsibility of the clinical instructor is to instruct and coordinate the clinical education of the Surgical Tech and Sterile Processing students. This is a classified faculty position.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Instruct clinical/lab courses with appropriate learning experiences, which provide the opportunity to meet course objectives and program goals. Coordinate the clinical assignments and scheduling of the Surg Tech/Sterile Processing students each semester. Coordinate student-learning experiences with clinical personnel at affiliating health care agencies. Perform scheduled visits to the clinical sites to review and evaluate students' clinical performance and progress. Assist with the collection and maintenance of clinical records. Schedule clinical orientation sessions for the Surg Tech/Sterile Processing students. Participate in program procedures required to maintain program accreditation. Maintain positive communication with affiliating health care agencies. Actively support student success through counseling, advising, and assisting individual students as needed. Participates in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable College committee activities, and other forms of College service. Maintain an active program of professional development related to individual, professional and institutional needs. Communicate any clinical, student concerns in a timely manner to the Program Director. Regular attendance on campus is required for this position. Other duties as assigned. Hours/Schedule: Schedules vary according to class schedules. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment. Work Environment: Scheduled visits to clinical sites. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Earned Associate's Degree or higher in Surgical Technology from an institution accreditation by either the Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education (ABHES) required. Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required. Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline. Equivalent of two (2) years full-time successful work experience in Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing. Credentialed by the NBSTSA for Surgical Technology and CBSPD or IAHCSMM for Sterile Processing. Demonstrated skill in effective written communication. Preferred Qualifications: Additional Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education Online, remote, or virtual teaching experience. QM Teaching Online certified. Salary/Hourly Rate: $37.76 OR $39.31 Salary Comments: Academic YearCompensation Structure:Classified Faculty - Clinical Instructors with two (2) to three (3) years related work experience will be paid the first rate.Classified Faculty - Clinical Instructors with four (4) years and over related work experience will be paid the second rate.
