Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and possess a current Idaho nursing license. One year of experience in direct patient care or 6-12 months of in-home healthcare experience is highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal skills are required. Must be able to execute established nursing care plans and demonstrate excellent organizational skills. Must have reliable transportation and be capable of delivering high quality client care in the home. Must be able to work independently and show good judgment. Must also have demonstrated ability in working with family members while providing skilled nursing care to clients. Must perform other duties as assigned. This is a variable hour position.

Functions/Duties:

  • Consistently apply appropriate nursing principles and guidelines during the provision of skilled care to clients.
  • Consistently observe, interpret and evaluate symptoms and needs of clients utilizing nursing assessment skills.
  • Consistently follow appropriate nursing guidelines of the RN Nurse Practice Act and assume responsibility for nursing decisions and actions.
  • Manage, assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care delivered on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide 1:1 nursing care to clients as outlined in the individual nursing care plan.
  • Demonstrate competencies for the assigned client.
  • Provide medication and/or tube feedings as ordered.
  • Provide treatments as ordered on the individual care plan.
  • Provide basic comfort needs for the client, including a safe and clean environment.
  • Provide passive range of motion exercises as needed.
  • Provide socialization and mental stimulation as needed.
  • Report changes in the client's status to the agency as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor vital signs as indicated.
  • Assess client status and document any changes on the correct forms.
  • Document all interventions on correct forms.
  • Responsible for submitting time-sheets to the office according to policy.
  • May be responsible for oversight of specific caregivers or nursing assistants, as assigned by the Director of Nursing and/or Director of PCS services.
