We are looking for a part time teaching assistant from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in our Beginners Preschool room. This time of the day includes lunch, cleaning up from lunch, nap and restroom time and some free play and dance before they pack up and leave for the day. Provides supervision for children, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, and is able to offer First Aid when needed. Help organize and participate in Centers, reading to the children, and assisting Lead Teacher with duties, such as restroom breaks, nap, etc. as needed. Interact positively with children and act as an appropriate adult role model. Directs children in eating, playing, and toileting. Helps children develop habits of caring for their own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books. Maintains discipline. Assists in distributing food and snacks as well as cleaning up as needed. Maintains a classroom environment that is in accord with program goals and philosophy. Attends training and staff meetings as required, including for the distribution of food, as taught with Indy Parks. Willingness to foster the mission of the Church Ability to implement a program based on sound principles of child development Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving problems. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships. Ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to a diverse population of students, co-workers, parents and others. Ability to exercise discretion and to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively with children, other staff, parents, and the general public. Patience and genuine interest in furthering the wellbeing, education, and development of children. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training Background screening required One year of experience related to the care of children is preferred. Successful completion of pre-employment health screenings as required by law. WORK ENVIRONMENT Lifting children or heavy items (up to 50 pounds) unassisted; bending; standing; climbing; or walking. Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, stand, and sit for long periods of time. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions that may be unhealthful or hazardous, such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood diseases. Exposure to moderate to loud noises and exposure to weather conditions. no benefits included for Part Time
