We are seeking a compassionate and experienced part-time nanny to join this family and provide care for their child with special needs. Our ideal candidate is someone who has a genuine passion for working with children, especially those with unique needs, and can provide a supportive and nurturing environment. I. Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities We are currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, experienced Child Caregiver to assist with our 10 year old son with autism and intellectual disability and our 7 year old neurotypical daughter. Our son has a very thorough behavior plan, devised by Kennedy Krieger Institute, a leader in managing significant behaviors in individuals with autism. We are looking for a caregiver who is able and willing to be trained in his behavior plan. In this Child caregiver role, you will see to the basic needs of the children, be thoroughly trained in a therapeutic plan to best interact with my son, and provide/create a safe compassionate experience for both children. To succeed in this position, you should be patient, enthusiastic, and fun loving with a passion for child development and care. II. Minimum Requirements: In order to be eligible for the Nanny position, a qualified candidate must fulfill the following minimum requirements: Have a High School Diploma, GED or suitable equivalent. Be at least 21 years of age. Be legally authorized to work in the United States. Have 3 plus years of childcare experience, or related professional work experience (such as daycare, teaching, etc.). Minimum 1 year experience working with and willingness to work with developmental disabled and/or individuals with severe problem behaviors Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred or willingness to learn Certification in early childcare or degree in childhood development preferred Successful completion of Mandated Reporter Training Successful completion of, or willingness to successfully complete car seat safety training prior to start date. Background check demonstrating suitability for this position caring for young children without supervision. Possess valid CPR and First-Aid Certifications or be willing to obtain or renew as a condition of hire. Proficient knowledge of home safety. Possess sound moral character and kind disposition suitable for caring for children of all ages without supervision. Exceptional patience and ability to remain calm Excellent listening skills and engaging demeanor Be physically fit, energetic, agile, and dexterous. Provide proof of current vaccinations including but not limited to Td or Tdap, MMR, HepA, HepB, PCV, influenza Handle age-appropriate care and responsibilities of children including: See below Possess valid driver's license, car insurance, and a clean driving record demonstrating proficient driving skills. Vehicle will be provided for use on the job. III. Essential Job Functions: Creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for the child(ren). Reliably and predictably attending work and being punctual. Safely bathing and dressing children. Assistance with toilet training of special needs child and clean up of toileting accidents. Disciplining the child(ren) according to the family's preferred parenting style. Arranging appropriate playdates and outings. Engaging in indoor and outdoor play. Researching, planning, and engaging in educational activities and crafts. Laundering children's clothes, bedding, etc. Planning meals, preparing food, and/or feeding the child(ren). Reading to the child(ren). Helping with homework. Organizing bedrooms/toys. Administering medicine with parents' consent, if necessary. Performing light housekeeping such as dishwashing, grocery shopping, taking out trash, tidying up, vacuuming, etc. The ability to work Monday through Friday from 6:30AM-8:30AM and 3PM-6:30 or 7PM, with occasional late evening and weekend hours. Occasional travel (domestic or international) with family for leisure or work. Performing several childcare and childcare-related tasks at once. Engaging in physical activities with children over uneven and various terrain. Preventing harm to the child(ren), including but not limited to the ability to take swift action to prevent harm or remove children from potentially harmful circumstances. Using hands and fingers to handle or feel. Standing/bending/stretching/reaching/kneeling/crawling, etc. Maintaining behavior logs for the parents. Safely and legally operating a motor vehicle to carpool, or drive children to school, activities, medical appointments, playdates or run errands. Performing other duties as assigned by the family.
