General Purpose Weekend Part Time help, Saturday or Sundays or both. Drop and Hook Routes Operate a tractor-trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others. Job Duties and Responsibilities Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route) Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure Attend all driver workshops and training sessions Use company supported applications or systems properly Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred Must meet minimum age requirements Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records Must meet all DOT requirements Certification and/or License - valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator's permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements Skill in proficient computer usage Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Skills with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements Able to contribute to the positive performance behaviors through personal example Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps to solve problems Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork Able to follow directions and meet deadlines Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures Able to interpret and apply company policies Able to adapt and manage to change effectively Able to perform task and duties with minimal supervision Able to take initiative in performing job Good organization and record keeping skills Able to be punctual Must be able to read, write and speak English Reporting to this Position None backup support to position(s) N/A Travel No travel required (that is, business travel outside of daily driving responsibilities) 5%-15% (1-3 times per year) 15%-25% (1-2 times per quarter) 25%-50% (up to 1 week per month) 50%-75% (up to 2 weeks per month) 75%-100% (3+ weeks per month) Scope Information N/A Job profile Created By HQ Human Resources
