Purpose of the Position:

The person in this position is responsible for the provision of Palliative Care care in the outpatient setting at Asplundh Cancer Center and within the hospital.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing, longitudinal supportive care and consultation for all patients within the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in an outpatient Supportive Oncology practice embedded within the Asplundh Cancer Center
  • Provide inpatient consultation services in palliative care.
  • Facilitate clarification of patient and family goals of care.
  • Consult with the attending physician of all engaged specialties and the Interdisciplinary Team to establish a written plan of care at intervals specified in the plan.
  • Facilitate access to appropriate supportive care services.
  • Education of staff and coworkers.
  • Full and appropriate documentation of patient care services to support professional billing for these services.
  • Participation in on-call coverage with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Weekly participation in interdisciplinary team meetings to review active cases.
  • Assist in the development of standards of care.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Adhere to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff, and the organization.

Job Qualifications:

  • Board certified or eligible in Hospice/Palliative Medicine
  • 1 year experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Current state medical license and in good standing with medical board.
  • Strong clinical and communication skills
