Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced personnel with P-3 aircraft structures mechanic background to support back shop maintenance program with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Jacksonville, FL. The CBP P-3 fleet consists of Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Long-Range Tracker (LRT) high-endurance, all-weather, tactical turbo-prop aircraft. The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. The LRT aircraft are used to intercept, track airborne and surface threats in source and transit zone countries. The P-3 aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, highly sophisticated sensor equipment, i.e., radar, electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) detecting systems. This position is located in Green Cove Springs, FL. with detachment locations both CONUS and internationally. This is a Service Contract Act position. In this position, you will troubleshoot, repair and service P-3 aircraft and engine systems. Conduct diagnosis of malfunctions. Perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions. Specific duties include:
Maintains and repairs U. S. Customs and Border Protection P-3 aircraft, aircraft systems and components including, but not limited to depot level heavy structures repair, T-56 engines, 54H60-77 propellers, auxiliary power units, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, oxygen and mechanical components
Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation
Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals / specifications
Use your comprehensive knowledge of P-3 aircraft propulsion systems / component troubleshooting and repair procedures and replacement of components
Use your knowledge of P-3 aircraft fuel systems and repair, with ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems, with the ability to provide technical support to maintenance management, propulsion / airframe engineers and customersAdditional job duties are required but not limited to:
Performs corrosion control, preflight and post-flight maintenance inspections, fuel sampling, miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, tow and jack aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, and other tasks as deemed necessary
Responsible for providing and receiving guidance and technical expertise to lower and from higher level technicians throughout all aircraft maintenance and/or modification efforts Basic Qualifications: A High School diploma and a minimum of 5 years of multiengine transport category aircraft experience with proven ability to troubleshoot P-3 aircraft mechanical, airframe systems, engine and propeller systems
Ability to obtain a FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate or be a highly qualified applicant who is able to provide documentation (FAA Form 8610-2.) giving them the authorization to test OR obtain A&P certificate within 120-days of hire
Ability to work any assigned shift and overtime as needed
Ability to use personally owned hand tools and comply with a 100% tool accountability and control process; Use customer provided tools requiring calibration and specialized test equipment and the physical ability to become respirator qualified and work in confined spaces
Ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Homeland CBP Background Investigation. Preferred Qualifications: HCT-10 Bench Operator, ability to troubleshoot, isolate problems and repair all P-3 aircraft mechanical, electrical, engine and propeller systems excluding avionics.
Depot level experience on P-3 aircraft in the structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate
Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent
HAC 10 and/or T-10 qualifications.Salary Range: $31 - $35 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
