Job Summary: This non-exempt position works overnight hours in the Care Department and reports to the Care Manager/Medication Manager to provide management and oversight of the Overnight shift and the transition from PM to Overnight and Overnight to AM. This position works together with other overnight staff to supervise all residents in the community and to ensure the safety and security of the residents and building. This position is the first point of contact on the overnight shift for managers, family members, and residents. Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Know the requirements for providing care and supervision appropriate to each resident of the community and fulfill with excellence. Successfully execute the community's planned emergency procedures. Participate in monthly drills including elopement and fire. Effectively interact with emergency personnel including providing resident medical records to emergency responders. On the premises and awake or, if on an off-the-clock break, assign another employee, and stay capable of responding within 10 minutes. Dispense overnight medications in accordance with the community's med management protocol. Complete all DSS-mandated initial and annual training which includes Care, Dementia and Medication Management Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including, but not limited to: continence care, showering, grooming, transfer assistance, and meal assistance. Follow a care plan and document provided care accordingly. Take your assigned rest periods and meal breaks at assigned times. Point person for Resident/Family concerns. Follow reporting matrix as appropriate. Ensure company/community policies are followed. Report/document resident and/or staff concerns to appropriate managers. Visits new residents or those returning from hospital/rehab to ensure needs are being met. Work with the overnight team to complete task sheets and end of shift reports. Ensure incident reports are being completed. Walk the community. Responsible for radios/keys to be turned in at end of shift. Endorse resident concerns to oncoming shift. Manage call offs in Care during shift to ensure we are adequately staffed. Report any staff shortages to Department Manager (DRS or CM). Safe Working Program Report any accidents, injuries, or violations of company safety rules. Meet all training requirements within the first 30 days of employment. Follow standard precautions and practice all precautionary measures related to contagious disease and infections. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for your job. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Requires patience in working with Senior Residents in the range of 60-100 plus years of age. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. At times, may be required to work outdoors. May include exposure to dogs, cats or other pets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, or kneel. The employee may be asked to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Qualifications Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Interact well with residents, family members, all staff members, future residents. Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions. High School Diploma, or GRE, or equivalent experience. According to Title 22 requirements, employee must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Trained in first aid as required in Title 22 Section 87465, Incidental and Dental Care Services. Current First Aid Certification (obtained through community) DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to working in community (obtained through community). Health screening and negative TB test must be less than six (6) months old (obtained through community).
