Our privately owned and operated animal hospital is seeking an experienced ER Veterinarian to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of emergency cases for our beloved patients while providing the highest level of compassionate care. This position requires the ability to work overnight shifts, providing critical care when it's needed most. Typically this is 7AM - 7PM, 3-4 days per week, 12 shifts per month but is flexible for the right DVM.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide immediate diagnosis and treatment of emergency situations, including surgeries, for a variety of small animals.
  • Stabilize traumatized animals and perform necessary surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with a team of veterinary professionals to ensure the highest level of care is provided to each patient.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners, explaining the diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis in a compassionate and understanding manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of patients, ensuring all treatments and procedures are accurately documented.
  • Stay current on the latest advancements in emergency veterinary medicine and apply this knowledge to treat patients effectively.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to veterinary technicians and support staff during overnight shifts.

Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university.
  • Current license to practice veterinary medicine.
  • Exceptional surgical and diagnostic skills, with a focus on emergency medicine.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical conditions and treatments to pet owners.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience guiding a team of veterinary professionals.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to veterinary care, with a deep love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Physical stamina for extended periods of standing and the ability to lift animals up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
