Outpatient Special Procedures Technician

Department: Special Procedures Shift: Primarily Days (United States of America) Employee Type: Limited Term (Fixed Term) Per Diem Type (if applicable): Minimum Pay Range: $31.54 - $39.42 Job Description: LIMITED TERM UP TO 6 MONTHS POSITION SUMMARY The Surgical Services Special Procedures Technician is a member of the nursing staff trained in performing the technical role during endoscopic and special procedures and in maintaining and cleaning the endoscopes and accessories. Assists in providing care to patients according to Marshall Medical Center's standards of practice. Hands required instruments to the physician, assisting with patient positioning, returns endoscopes and accessories to the cleaning room in the appropriate manner at the end of each procedure and assists with turning over the Special Procedure room and setting it up for the next patient. Ensures endoscopes and accessories are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected/sterilized and assists with maintaining par levels of stock items throughout the department. Assists in the care of patients in the Outpatient Area that are present for surgical procedures, as requested. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Assists in attaining department goals by functioning in other areas within the department as requested. Ensures the safe handling of material to protect all patients and employees. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent required. Current Certification as an Endoscopy Technician (CET) required or obtained within 1 year of hire date. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Medical Assistant (MA) certification preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish duties of a Special Procedures Technician. Computer familiarity required.
