JOIN THE CHC FAMILY. Community Health Connections (CHC) is a multi-site, non-profit health care center offering urgent care, primary family medical and pediatric care, preventative and restorative dental care, oral surgery, behavioral health services for children and adults, and substance use disorder treatment, and specialty services including optometry eye care, optical shop, acupuncture, nutrition consultations and podiatry. CHC is mission-driven, providing compassionate, quality health care regardless of income or health insurance status. CHC has five sites within Fitchburg, Gardner and Leominster with decades of experience as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), serving 36 communities in North Central Massachusetts. Under the general supervision of the Medical Manager, the Optometry Coordinator will assist in administrative responsibilities that include administrative support and coverage within the department as needed. This position relies on the individual to be: flexible, detail-oriented, organized, and consistent, with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Essential Duties and Major responsibilities: Provide support and maintain effective communication with the Medical Manager Provide coverage for department functions such as front desk and optical Update provider schedules in EPIC Coordinate projects as assigned Gather and analyze data Assist in training staff. Act as a resource to staff in the department to problem solve issues Proficient in Power Point, Excel and ability to prepare general reports Ability to effectively communicate orally and written expression Verify insurance coverage and eligibility including printing out the benefit sheets for materials (eyeglasses and contact lenses) from such vendors as VSP and EYEMED Call patients for the optometrist(s) and optician(s) to schedule appointments or report normal test results Reschedule patient appointments when the optometrist or optician are out sick or on leave. Process incoming faxes and send electronically to appropriate optometry personnel. Order contact lenses from vendors weekly; process the inventory of contacts when they arrive at the facility (i.e. creating invoices for retail boxes and calling patients to let them know their contacts are ready for pick up, preparing trials and calling patients whose trials we have to set up appropriate CL exam or fitting with optometrist or optician) Schedule referrals and PT1's when needed Acquire and track PA's for eyeglasses and ocular medications when needed Keep the optometry lanes and optical shop stocked with supplies Order supplies for the Optometry Department Demonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center mission Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards Performs other job related duties as required or assigned Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required, Associate Degree in secretarial science or equivalent preferred 3 years' work experience similar to front-line support in a medical office environment Experience with use of various PC based software products, including but not limited to: word processing and spreadsheets Bilingual in Spanish preferred Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced office environment Benefits: 401k Generous vacation and personal time for eligible employees Sick time Medical, dental, and vision insurance 100% paid Life insurance/AD&D 100% paid Long-Term disability.
