GENERAL FUNCTION: The basic function of the Optician will be to provide exceptional patient service, attract and retain patients by understanding and fulfilling their vision needs and surpassing their expectations. Should have strong work ethics, have professional appearance, be reliable, punctual and dependable with flexibility & adaptability with a strong desire to learn and grow in a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the profession. Industry Certifications and licensing would be preferred but not required. Family discounts. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude, energy and willingness to go the extra mile. Drive profitable store sales by fostering a positive retail selling culture using effective customer relationship skills. Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions, style the patients to look their best. Utilize optical prescription in conjunction to the patient's visual requirements. Recommend specific lenses, and lens coatings to suit patient needs. Assist patients in styling and selection of frames, and coordinate frames to prescription and patient needs. Perform appropriate optical related measurements and fitting. Proper dispensing and provide follow up care and service Ensure a quality patient experience through correct pricing, POS entry, and realistic delivery time quotes. Provide appropriate guidance to patients regarding Managed Vision Care. Ensure the store is effectively merchandised and presented according to Planogram and other Company standards. Keeping the store clean and well organized. Other duties as assigned by Store Manager KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Ability to sell through use of sales skills and accountability for sales results. Experience and proven results with an optical retail establishment. Ability to present and implement decisive and creative solutions to opportunities to grow the business. Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet/exceed patient expectations. Foster positive and results-oriented associate and doctor relationships. Personal responsibility and Professionalism Great Positive mental attitude and outlook. Attention to detail and follow-up. Ability to manage priorities through adaptability and flexibility. Willingness to take calculated risks. Experience with personal computers preferred. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent, or comparable experience typically achieved with a minimum of 1-2 years in a retail environment.
