Description The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Opioid Response Coordinator to manage and coordinate initiatives, programs, and data related to the opioid epidemic. This position will manage the Sheriff's Office's strategic response to the opioid epidemic, evaluate opioid-related data, establish objectives and track metrics of program performance, serve as the Office representative in meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and coordinate the numerous agency-wide initiatives and programs related to our comprehensive opioid response. Location and hours: This position will be on-site in City Hall in downtown Minneapolis located at 350 South 5th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415. The primary work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility. This position may work outside of these hours that may include evenings and weekends. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. About the position type: This is a full-time, limited duration (temporary), benefit-earning position expected to last up to two years, with the possibility of extension. In this position, you will: Manage the development of the Sheriff's Office's comprehensive strategy on mitigating the opioid epidemic. Collaborate with Sheriff's Administration on the Office's "Focus On Fentanyl" prevention and awareness campaign to include assisting with development of messaging for mainstream, social, and digital media. Analyze data, including drug-related investigations and Narcan deployments, for the development of opioid-related communications. Support efforts encompassing inmate treatment and programming related to opioids, i.e., the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and Narcan kit giveaways. Monitor the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program (ODMAP) for the Sheriff's Office and liaison with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) Team. Collaborate with other government and community stakeholders surrounding opioid awareness and prevention efforts. Represent the Sheriff's Office at internal and external meetings that are relevant to the opioid discussion. Research opioid-related grants and other funding opportunities. Lead and assist with the Sheriff's Office community outreach efforts on opioid education. Coordinate Sheriff's Office sponsored community Narcan training opportunities. Track and report on metrics related to opioid settlement funded positions and programs. Need to have: One of the following: Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, public administration, public relations, or other field appropriate to the position and four or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations, or in a specialty area appropriate to the position. Note: Experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs, policies, and/or budgets. Access to reliable transportation to travel to worksites throughout Hennepin County. Nice to have: Experience: Providing program/project coordination; developing and presenting findings to stakeholders. With public speaking/presenting. Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and processing gathered data. Writing and/or preparing reports. Working with customers or clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Be tech savvy and successfully learn and properly use a variety of digital platforms (internal client management systems, Microsoft products, Adobe, and/or SharePoint).
