A Day in the Life:
As an Operations Specialist you work the day to day operations for multiple departments for your facility. This is a hands-on position requiring you to work outside in all kinds of weather. You will help with loading and unloading of grain, agronomy, and some feed products. The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to; operating company owned trucks for transferring grain and fertilizer, assisting with the train loads going out, and agronomy train loads coming in, monitoring and maintaining grain quality, mixing and loading of liquid/dry fertilizer and chemical products, conducting and helping manage inventory, assisting with the operation of the scale to weigh products, and performing routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and vehicles. Day to day tasks are housekeeping and maintenance duties to keep our bins up and running, grain handling, loading and unloading grain on both trucks and trains; as well as tendering for applicators, loading and handling fertilizer, chemicals, and herbicide, filling anhydrous tanks, and working closely with agronomy. Employees will be required to operate single or double axel trucks, forklifts, scale operations, augers and front-end loaders and application equipment as well as sweep and clean out grain bins. You will be expected to work hard, and you will have to work more hours during busy seasons. The Cooperative operates under the all hands-on deck philosophy when it comes to getting things done. Therefore, employees are required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.

What You ll Need to Do This Job:

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent
  • Class A or B CDL depending on truck (willing to train right individual)
  • Farming or agriculture background/knowledge preferred
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • The ability to think clearly and problem solve
  • The desire to be involved in agriculture and work for a cooperative
  • Physically, this position requires you to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and crawl on a regular basis
  • This position requires you to climb ladders and ride the man-lift to heights of 200ft. You must be able to regularly lift at least 50 pounds and occasionally lift 100 pounds.
  • You will be exposed to grain dust, chemicals and fertilizers, and outdoor elements and temperatures
  • You must be flexible with your schedule as more hours will be expected during harvest and planting seasons and you must be available when trains come to unload/load grain.
