Operations Manager / Production Manager
Location: Chicago Heights, IL
Job Type and Duration: Permanent full time
Pay rate: 120k
This is a full-time on-site role for an Operations Manager with a thriving, family owned business in the fixtures and displays industry. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing staff, optimizing processes, and ensuring efficient production. They will also work closely with other departments to coordinate projects and meet deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet production deadlines.
Maintain production reporting accuracy.
Maintain production inventory accurately.
Maintain labor records accurately.
Utilize the Epicor enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to manage the set production schedules.
Coordinate with production supervisors, operations teams, and other stakeholders to schedule manufacturing orders effectively.
Monitor production inventory levels of raw materials, anticipating any shortages or excesses, and taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
Monitor MRO supplies taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
Coordinate and prioritize interdepartmental production schedules.
Optimize production sequences, considering factors such as equipment availability, labor capacity, and material availability.
Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changing priorities or unforeseen eventconstraints or bottlenecks to ensure production targets can be met.
Communicate operational status to stakeholder depts.
Generate reports and manage dashboards to provide insights into key performance indicators (KPIs) and support decision-making processes.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes and monitor their effectiveness.
Identify , correct , and schedule continuous improvement opportunities and projects
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to industry.
Maintain a safe, organized depts.
Work in conjunction with maintenance on upkeep of equipment and scheduled PMs to minimize down time and meet schedule
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise a staff of 6 manufacturing supervisors and all production personnel under them.
Provide training and mentoring.
Ensure company policies are being adhered to
Ensure safety rules are being followed.
Manage permanent and temporary workforce as production demand dictates.
Manage headcount and overtime as demand dictates
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Bilingual highly preferred. English / Spanish
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Strong leadership and management skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Experience in operations management in mixed high and low volume custom production environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and efficiency improvement techniques
Knowledge of manufacturing P&L standards
Experience in metal fabrication and powder coating.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Effective communicator adept at collaborating with cross functional teams
Proficiency in Microsoft office and ERP software
Proficient in blueprint reading
Able to compile and analyze data for process improvements.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, and or 10 yrs experience in fabrication
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Lean Six Sigma certification and / or provable experience required.
