Our client, a leading manufacturer in the consumer good industry has an excellent opportunity available for an Operations Manager.

This is a key position responsible for directing all operational activities of production, warehouse, and maintenance departments. This person oversees the filling, assembly and packaging of personal care & cosmetic products in a fast paced multi-shift contract manufacturing environment. The production process includes various levels of automation and some manual work as well. The Operations Manager will organize daily management and weekly team meetings and drives a culture of safety, quality, delivery and cost control. Partner with the customer project, quality, and planning functions to maximize client satisfaction, including KPIs for on time and in full delivery. The role is a key member the plant leadership team and is further supported by Plant Management, HR, EH&S, Engineering, and Finance.

Essential Functions:

Ensure that the entire production process, including receiving, materials movement, production, and shipping is well coordinated, safe, of high quality, and cost effective

Lead by example, communicate transparently and establish a results-oriented culture where personnel act with integrity, are team players, and are accountable.

Develop cross functional teams who are engaged, and structured, who can meet customer demand changes, and expedites effectively.

Serve as a leader on the production floor and oversee the daily manufacturing process, ensuring KPI's and performance are met or exceeded.

Partner with quality to implement quality-control programs that ensure high levels of first time right and material usage yield.

Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices.

Focus on resolving the daily operational priorities while planning for and executing longer term improvement projects.

Utilize the maintenance function to drive equipment set up effectiveness and ensure that change and spare parts are available and accessible.

Utilize the warehouse function to timely process incoming and outgoing shipments while fully supporting production related processes of picking, staging, and reconciliation.

Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals;

Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed;

Develop and track improvement in reduction of planned production hours.

Coordinate set up and implement standard operating procedure for all production operations.

Ensure complete compliance to prescribed processes.

Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve the objectives.

Leadership Responsibilities

Manage and direct daily activities of supervisors and lead personnel and guide indirect associates, including material handlers, process leads, and maintenance technicians as needed.

Manage production shift leaders (up to 3 shifts 5x per week)

This is a hands-on role with significant time in the production area.

Be an active and engaged member of the Plant Leadership Team.

Manage supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; MBA would be a plus.

10+ years related progressive operations experience including a mix of Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance.

Must have previously worked in a FDA regulated industry and should have 3+years of Manufacturing/Engineering experience in cosmetic/personal care/OTC and contract manufacturing.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
