As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Strategy Consulting practice within the Strategy & Technology Group (STG) in Chicago, IL.

Aon STG Strategy Consulting provides advisory services to firms who operate across the insurance landscape, which include many of the most prestigious companies in the Global Property, Casualty, Insurtech, Digital Platforms, and Health and Benefit (re)insurance market. As an Operations Consulting Manager, you will be in a client-facing role working directly with Client Leaders and Aon Leadership to develop solutions to help our clients turn insights into practical actions, and into tangible results. Your role will involve leading consulting teams to deliver business focused initiatives and operational recommendations for our clients through understanding their objectives, addressing their challenges, and developing operationally focused solutions that improve Client's efficiency and efficacy.

Operational consulting focus areas for our clients include program and project management, operating model design, organizational design and governance, process improvement and expense management. In addition to Client delivery, you will be responsible for managing Client relationships and Aon network relationships, coaching, mentoring, and developing the staff, contribute to expanding STG's market presence, and supporting the

growth of our organization.

As an Operations Consulting Manager you will:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of sophisticated client engagements from ideation to project scope definition to project management, delivery and presentation to C-suite.
  • Handle the overall client relationship building credibility and trust.
  • Be responsible for project delivery and leading Associate and Senior Associate team members within the project team.
  • Lead all aspects of the design and development of target operating models, compare current and future states and perform gap analyses.
  • Identify, analyze and improve upon business processes, including workflow documentation and process maps.
  • Design organizational structures and corporate governance frameworks.
  • Be responsible for structuring a client project/problem into phases and questions, hypothesis testing, story building and deliverable production.
  • Lead problem solving sessions with internal/external clients to develop processes and methodologies that will guide them to the desired future state.
  • Developing storyboard, framework for analysis, and formulating overarching narrative.
  • Lead the identification and communication of recommendations to clients.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of operational recommendations.
  • Developing and drafting client proposals, articulating STG's value proposition.
  • Work towards selling client engagements through ongoing relationship and delivery of operational initiatives.
  • Work in a collaborative environment with clients and colleagues.
  • Challenge the status quo and internal processes to identify opportunities to work more efficiently.
  • Lead by strong example, mentor, coach, and potentially line manage Associates and Senior Associates.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise.

Characteristics of an ideal candidate:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree: MBA is preferred.
  • Certified in Project Management or 3+ years project management experience.
  • PMP Certified, pursuing PMP certification or similar certification.
  • 5+ years of work experience in operations or operations consulting and experience in the P&C insurance industry.
  • Experience in organizational design, target operating model development, process improvement or process mapping.
  • Experience leading projects and managing teams of professionals to deliver quality and insightful work to Executive stakeholders.
  • Experienced in business storytelling and formulating narratives.
  • Ability to develop robust and impactful Client & Executive presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and a track record of business success.
  • Strong attention to detail and a critical eye in overseeing work of more junior team members.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, on multiple work streams, and with tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Vizio)
  • Willing to travel (typically less than 20%)
  • Willingness / ability to work internationally, also not a requirement.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $135,000 to $195,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
