Location: Lake Placid, NY (Home of the 1980 Winter Olympics)
Setting: Skilled Nursing Facility
Newly, renovated building.
This position will be staffed specifically in the REHAB unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Keep detailed evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries for residents enrolled in the occupational therapy program.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to address the special needs of residents, aiming for optimal rehabilitation or maintenance of function.
- Contribute to Resident Care Planning meetings and represent the Occupational Therapy department in the absence of the Director.
- Keep precise statistical records of residents' treatments.
- Support in-service training programs as needed.
- Update and maintain residents' care plans accurately.
Qualifications:
- Must have graduated from an accredited occupational therapy program.
- A valid state license to practice occupational therapy is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in occupational therapy is preferred, with a keen interest in developing treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to direct others.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- A strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, their families, and staff.
- Must display maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
-The ability to work compassionately with geriatric and chronically ill residents and to maintain high standards of excellence in task execution.
- This role demands regular interaction with residents, coworkers, and supervisors; therefore, the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or advanced level is essential to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
