The Nursing Student Support Specialist assumes a pivotal role within the School of Nursing, tasked with the primary objective of fostering and enhancing student success. In addition to this fundamental responsibility, the incumbent will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive administrative support to the School of Nursing team. The role of the Nursing Student Support Specialist plays a critical function ensuring a seamless and supportive journey for students aspiring to embark on a career in nursing. Provides administrative support including serving as the primary point of student-facing contact for the School of Nursing. Communicates with prospective nursing students regarding application requirements and admissions processes. Maintains knowledge of admission criteria, application process, curriculum, and program requirements. Directs information sessions for prospective nursing students. Represents School of Nursing at off-campus events including high school visits, community events, etc. Manages on-campus events for prospective nursing students including tour groups, new student orientation, etc. Communicates with internal departments to ensure effective collaboration when assisting prospective students. Supports at-risk nursing students through initiatives and/or advising. Participates in orientation activities and provides individualized support to accepted students. Facilitates student course registration processes and monitors student progression in curriculum. Maintains communication with nursing students through various means including printed materials and LMS. Serves on regional and ad hoc committees as needed to support student success initiatives. Maintains student and program records in compliance with College policy. Supports program accreditation compliance. Attends and provides administrative support at School of Nursing events. Facilitates compliance with clinical affiliate expectations. Supports internal processes including student registration and purchase requisitions as needed. Collaborates with internal departments to support campus initiatives and student success. Provides administrative support to nursing faculty as needed. Proctors examinations as needed. Attends and facilitates professional development as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned. Associates degree required, baccalaureate degree preferred. Two years of experience in applicable student support role. Excellent customer service skills, proficient in oral and written communication skills, able to effectively engage with diverse populations. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Exceptional organizational skills, ability to provide attention to detail, ability to problem-solve and exhibit critical thinking. Ability to demonstrate self-initiative while collaborating within a team environment. Ability to maintain confidential information. Possesses characteristics of dependability and responsibility. Position is required to, on occasion, travel to other locations that require driving or other forms of transportation.
