Nurse Supervisor

Job Description

I. General Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Patient Care Services, a Nurse Supervisor Flow Coordinator coordinates, prioritizes and optimizes patient flow activities by utilizing bed placement, staffing, and clinical information to optimize patient throughput. Drives improvement in capacity management and patient flow.

Develops, implements, and sustains efforts to improve patient flow in partnership with Patient Care Service Leadership and the Project Manager.

Coordinates, collaborates, and communicates with administration, physicians, nursing management staff, patient and support services, and external agencies to facilitate the delivery of quality patient care.

Communicates with Nurse Leaders and the staffing office to inform and assist in resource allocation.

Serves as the onsite administrative resource for the facility during evenings, weekends, nights, holidays, and other designated time periods.

Responds to organizational emergencies and issues and escalates issues per policies as needed.

Facilitates and coordinates bed meetings to support patient flow and resource allocation.

Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety and capacity management initiatives.
