The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center (THVC) is a 285-bed long-term care facility located in beautiful Wilmore, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are currently seeking a self-motivated, energetic individual for the position of Nurse Shift Program Supervisor. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky's Veterans. Key Responsibilities: Trains and supervises all clinical staff on all shifts in all aspects of their jobs to identify potential learning opportunities and the design of training that will correct any deficiencies. Coordinates, tracks, and provides direction to nursing staff to ensure staff development and yearly continuing education requirements are in compliance. Conducts CNA certification classes as needed for the facility. Documents, comments, and reports clinical issues in clear, concise manner to appropriate personnel. Ensures updates are clear, specific, and timely. Participates in aspects of direct care, including responding to emergency situations. Participates in THVC staff development monthly team meetings. Coordinates and collaborates with Multidisciplinary team to meet residents. Develops specialized training to correct any deficiencies within the facility. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: See Special Requirements. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions Incumbents work with patients, clients, or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases which requires the following of safety procedures. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
