The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients within the Great Plains Area. Duties: Assesses patient care needs through physical, psychosocial, educational and discharge needs specific to pregnancy, laboring, post-partum OB/GYN, surgical and newborn patients and determines priorities of care based on assessment. Plans and implements nursing interventions based on the plan of care and evaluates effectiveness to ensure that care plans are completed according to Acute Care Standards and based on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of patients. GS-07 A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision OR A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-5 grade level).Experience at this level is performed under general supervision and work is reviewed periodically by another RN; Provides professional nursing care to patients, reviewing history of medical care, assessing current health conditions and evaluating ability to self-care. Provide clinical and procedural nursing interventions administering medication in accordance with the plan of care and assisting providers with procedures. OR A diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and two full years of professional nursing experience. Examples of experience include: assess and care for the nursing needs of OB patients and other types of patients as assigned; develop plans of care to meet the needs of assigned patients; recognize adverse signs and symptoms and reacting swiftly in emergency situations; basic knowledge of triaging patients; plan with minimal assistance in scheduling and providing comprehensive nursing care in the OB Department. GS-09 One full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Examples of experience include: Provides professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients; knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to react promptly in emergency situations including the implementation of life saving procedures; providing counseling, guidance and health instruction to patients; and identifies disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic nursing interventions required.
