Nurse High School - Nurse Coordinator (24-25 SY)

"Primary Purpose:Support wellness and academic success for all students by supervising the practice of registered nurses and the delivery of health services. Collaborate with the district administration and departmental leaders to facilitie the delivery of health services, which meet the standards of care, applicable to state laws and District policies and department procedures. Qualifications:Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree Registered Nurse Vision/Hearing certification, preferred National Certification School Nurse, preferred American Heart CPR Instructor, preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Understanding of the Scope and structure of school nursing consistent with applicable state laws, district and department policies. Knowledge of pediatric health assessment, nursing diagnosis and care planning Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to implement policies and procedures Experience: Two years nursing experience, preferably in school, pediatric or community nursing Major Responsibilities and Duties:Nursing ServicesPerform all responsibilities of the school nurse, when assigned to campus clinical duties. Administration Develop and coordinate evaluation of District Health Services for quality improvement. Provide leadership, supervision and guidance to health services personnel to implement and maintain a quality health services program consistent with District Board policy at each school. Report District health and safety hazards to the Assistant Superintendent. Management of Health Services programs, projects and other tasks as assigned. Instruction Serve as health advocate for students. InstructionParticipate in development of District professional development in collaboration with department leaders and Assistant Superintendent for staff and faculty health topics. Monitor and provide required CPR instruction to health office and assist with instruction of other staff and faculty as assigned. ConsultationCollaborate with other interdisciplinary school professionals, parents and community stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and delivery of health services at all assigned areas. Professional Development Maintain certification in CPR, vision and hearing screening, and as a health screener. Model behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible. Supervisory Responsibilities:Participate in performance appraisals, identify learning opportunities for professional growth, provide effective feedback and develop corrective action plans for health services staff. Equipment Used:Thermometer, blood pressure cuff, audiometer, otoscope, sphygmomanometer, vision screening equipment, thermos scan, basic clinic equipment, personal computer, and copier. Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
