Nurse Educator-Pharmaceuticals-Rare Disease-Bi-Lingual Spanish/English

The Rare Disease Clinical Educator is member of a field-based team that operates as part of the Patient Access and Support Services organization. The Educator is responsible for disease state education to HCPs, patients, and caregivers. The Rare Disease Educator will also work to resolve genetic testing issues with offices as requested working with the account team.

Extensive domestic travel may be required. To succeed, the candidate will have a sustained reputation for putting the patient first and foremost, as well as a values-driven work style where integrity and grit drive all behaviors, decisions, and actions.

Key Activities

This team will support in the following areas:
  • Patient drug and disease state education, family variant testing discussions
  • Active, ongoing interactions with patients throughout their time on therapy.
  • Initial patient education would ideally be completed face to face and could occur in public setting and or the patient's home.
  • Ongoing interactions may be done remotely but could also be intermittently completed as face-to-face visits. Expect 30-40% field time for this objective. Registrant disease state education and family variant testing discussions
  • Education may be in person or remote
  • Host disease state "meet ups"
  • Participate in branded patient and HCP dinner programs
  • Attend marketing sponsored events, patient services events, and advocacy events to include conferences, walks, community outreach events
  • Reactive HCP education focused on enhanced testing support
  • Recruitment of patients for participation in marketing sponsored events such as: patient advisory board and focus groups, etc.
  • Build advocacy at region and local levels by identifying new potential advocacy opportunities and provide resources to patient advocacy groups to connect patients
  • May include patient education in their home setting a small percentage of the time
  • Lead non-branded webinars with disease state and content curated for patients and caregivers with this ultra-rare disease
  • Bring awareness to patient organizations with patient and HCP education.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional areas to help drive success
  • Identify, develop, and execute a multidisciplinary team approach for the
    company/disease

Experience-Education-Skills
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish and English speaking and writing /reading required
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is required
  • Advanced scientific training or academic credentials establishing strong clinical acumen, typically consisting of a scientific or clinical degree or certification in a relevant life science is preferred (e.g., RN, RD, NP, etc.)
  • Willingness to work both virtually and in person as needed
  • Knowledge and experience within the genetic testing milieu are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and cross-collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • 2+ years field-based experience in biopharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targeted objectives
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, navigate complexity, and be creative and solutions-oriented
  • Rare disease, orphan drug, and specialty pharmacy distribution experience is preferred
  • This role requires the ability to provide clinical/scientific education to assist in the strategic accounts
  • Platform skills for virtual presentations/webinars
  • Experience with working in field ( 60%) and virtual as needed based
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
