Overview Use radioactive materials to diagnose and treat diseases under the supervision of a physician. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceutical, and use imaging devices to record the distribution within a patient's body. May be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, and take call. May be asked to flex hours and overtime as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned sites(s). Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested, taking a lead role as assigned. Provides advanced clinical expertise and staff-level leadership to the department. Performs other duties as assigned. Monday-Friday, 7:00a-3:30p No weeknight call Rotating call with 1 Saturday a month Located in Rockford, IL Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist department manager/coordinator by providing clinical leadership; completing projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested. Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. Prepares patients for procedures insuring patient's meets requirements. Provides instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety. Applies principles of Nuclear Medicine safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others. Operates nuclear medicine equipment and other associated equipment to achieve desired results. Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination. Selects appropriate parameters with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access. Prepares and administers radioactive isotopes, insuring that the correct isotope and dose is used. Verifies medication reconciliation. Evaluates images and data for technical quality. Manipulates and processes digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident. Uses radiology information systems including PACS, completes all required records and reports, archives and submits images for physician review and interpretation. Utilizes appropriate scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers. Rotates to various Nuclear Medicine departments in order to meet the needs of the patients. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program Three years' experience as a certified nuclear medicine technologist required Certification and Licensure CNMT or ARRT(N) required IEMA-DNS Nuclear Medicine accreditation required if working in Illinois Approved CPR or BLS certification Skills and Abilities Takes call as needed Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Function of the position with or without accommodations.
