SUMMARY The Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine scans upon the receipt of written orders with appropriate indication of the physician and submits to the radiologist and cardiologist for reading. Takes technical direction from Radiologist and the Radiation Safety Officer. Receives supervision from the Clinical Radiology Manager. The CNMT is responsible for delivering care in a safe manner following established protocols. Orders supplies and radionuclides for the department. Performs all clerical duties associated with the Nuclear Medicine Department. Assesses and plans for care of patient considering the patient age (child, adult, or geriatric), developmental stage and / or psychosocial skills. Follows all DHEC standards regarding the safe handling of all radiopharmaceuticals. Performs or is responsible for quality control on all equipment and instruments to ensure reliable diagnostic studies prior to proceeding with patient exams. Responsible for all quality improvement studies. QUALIFICATIONS Education and formal training: Requires specialized training in a two year radiology technology program from an A.M.A. approved school. Requires AART for mammography and/or demonstrated skill in performing computed tomography exams. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements. Work experience: One year or greater. Maintain all licenses and certifications to include CNMT or ARRT (N). CPR certification required or must complete within first 90 days and maintain thereafter. Must be in CE compliance to maintain required licensures.
