Roles and Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY: Looking for a seasoned accountant to lead a team for one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Houston. You will actively work with various operations personnel and financial management and become an intricate component of our progressive team environment. The applicant must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to critically analyze large data sets. The cost accounting supervisor should also provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

- Manage staff daily needs and ensure all tasks and responsibilities are covered.

- Comfort in communicating and presenting results to senior management across different departments and geographical locations.

- Posses strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Respond to internal and external auditor requests.

- Reviewing and approving of monthly account reconciliations.

- Reviewing of monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis and summarizing/communicating to upper management.

- Partner with operations and accounting personnel to provide advice and technical assistance with operational transactions or processes and correlate the correct financial accounting.

- Providing guidance on root cause analysis and implementation of corrections where needed.

- Driving the review of system annual standard costs and executing in the system.

- Assisting with the monthly review of project budgets.

- Developing automated streamline processes for reporting or data analysis.

- Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets for review by upper management.

- Complete ad-hoc financial analysis and cost accounting projects as required.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 3 years of accounting, auditing, or other relevant experience.

- Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge.

- Oracle, Hyperion, Smart View, Snowflake, Power BI, and Alteryx experience a plus.

- Experience with manufacturing standard cost environment.

- High level of dedication to meeting customer requests and required time commitments.

- Aptitude for relating manufacturing activities, system transactions, and processes to financial outcomes.

EDUCATION REQUIRED - BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ACCOUNTING OR FINANCE

SCHEDULE: IS FLEXIBLE ON THE START AND END TIMES; HOWEVER, THE START TIME MUST BE NO LATER THAN 8:30 AM.

THERE IS ALSO A WEEKLY STAFF MEETING ON FRIDAYS AT 7:30 AM THAT NEEDS TO BE ATTENDED IN PERSON.

HYBRID SCHEDULE: WORKING 2 DAYS REMOTELY AND 3 DAYS IN THE OFFICE. THIS COULD CHANGE DEPENDING ON ANY MANDATORY MEETINGS.

DIRECT REPORTS: THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL BE MANAGING 2 DIRECT REPORTS UPON START, AND THIS COULD BE INCREASED TO 3 DIRECT REPORTS IN THE FUTURE.

BONUS: 5-10% ICP BONUS (THIS VARIES ON A CASE-TO-CASE BASIS DEPENDING ON THE CANDIDATE.)

1. How do you determine the cost for a product? (Needs to have a little bit of knowledge about material, labor, and/or outside processing.)

2. What cost allocation methods have you used in your previous roles?

3. Can you explain the difference between standard cost and actual cost?

4. If the standard cost of a product increases, what is your debit and credit?

2. Credit Cost Roll Valuation or a Standard Cost Variance Account

5. This facility deals with Percentage of Completion accounting. Does the candidate have any background in project accounting?

6. What background do you have in dealing with manufacturing?

7. This role will have direct reports. If you've only been working at the senior level, what experience do you have leading/managing?

8. What is your favorite Excel formula or tool you're currently using? (Most people give me Sumif or Vlookup. However, I'm looking for something that not everyone will tell me. For example, my favorite is Xlookup, introduced in 2019 as part of Office 365. This shows me that they're keeping up with new technology.)

9. Have you ever had to develop a useful report for operations or management decision-making? If so, what report? Please explain.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $90K-105K per year; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.

Please Note:

Must have a valid driver's license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.
