Members serve community centers, schools, and immigration centers in the greater Los Angeles area. An ideal member is flexible and posses an attitude of always being ready to serve. Member Duties : Members serve as teachers' aides at schools K-8. Duties include monitoring the children, helping with school work and correcting homework, administering make-up exams, preparing various class and homework assignments. Member may specialize in math or literacy instruction and may also assist in Enrichment programs. Members may also serve at an immigration center in educating applicants on the naturalization process, screens applicants to determine their eligibility, provides brief legal services such as work permit and permanent resident card renewals; FBI fingerprints; Freedom of Information Act Requests; and document translation, prepares cases for submission. Additional positions include leading a citizenship course through instruction and implementation of curriculum. Opportunities to teach Citizenship courses or teaching ESL classes in small group settings. SPANISH IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
