Castle Connolly has named Axia Women's Health its Physician Practice in the United States for Women's Health.

McConnell & Associates OB/GYN, an Axia Women's Health Care Center, is seeking an OB/GYN Nocturnist/Laborist to join their established practice covering 1 night during the week M-F, (5 PM - 8 AM), not every week,4 weekend days per month (8 AM - 8 AM), and some holidays.

Affiliated with Main Line Health/Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA.

Position Summary:

The OB/GYN Nocturnist/Laborist provides comprehensive care to pregnant women, delivers babies, and manages gynecological emergencies.

  • Provide obstetric and gynecological care to patients during shifts.
  • Conduct prenatal assessments, including routine check-ups and screenings, to monitor the health of pregnant women and their babies.
  • Attend deliveries and assist in the management of labor and childbirth, including performing cesarean sections and other surgical interventions as needed.
  • Evaluate and manage obstetric emergencies such as preterm labor, preeclampsia, and fetal distress.
  • Assess and treat gynecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, and reproductive tract infections.
  • Perform surgical procedures related to obstetrics and gynecology, such as hysterectomies, tubal ligations, and diagnostic laparoscopies.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, and neonatologists, to ensure coordinated care for patients.
  • Document patient encounters, medical histories, and treatment plans accurately and comprehensively in electronic medical records.
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in obstetrics and gynecology through continuing medical education and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of residency training in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Board certification or eligibility in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Active Pennsylvania Medical license and DEA.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in obstetric and gynecological care, including surgical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently and make quick, evidence-based decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to work overnight shifts on a regular basis, including weekends and holidays.
