About this Position:

Total business analysis of product or technology projects to ensure the business prospect is profitable for Honda prior to development resources being committed to the project. Study will include current competitive field and market positioning scenarios, as well as the identification of key enablers and features necessary to delivery an appealing product to our customers. Engage with cross functional team and Dept/Division leaders within Automotive Purchasing Division along with large project teams from other Business Units. Develop and execute Project Plans per specified commodity and unit roll up that achieve the A00 Targets for assigned projects (i.e. OEM partnerships and other large projects) and forecast profitability of various scenarios. Lead and manage assigned projects in all aspects from start to finish. Design, identify, communicate, and implement all assigned projects deliverables to be on time and within budget. Monitor progress and performance against the project plan versus actual. Prepare and present project reports to both internal and external Management members to show project status vs targets. Lead the development and execution of countermeasures for any items that do not meet project targets. Coach, mentor and develop all project PL's and assist and guide them to solve problems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project Management and Reporting: Report the overall project(s) and cost status to Department and Business Unit Leadership, and HDMA Executives according to the NA standard Evaluation process. Gain consensus within the research team on conclusions to be drawn from the sensing and benchmarking analysis. Prepare a report summarizing findings and recommendation on path forward and specific actions to take as well as Unit roll-up. Communicate cross functionally with purchasing and design to share ideas and reach consensus. Share project requirements to Department team.
  • Sensing: Manage the study developments in the automotive industry to understand latest trends in products and technology coming into the market. Compare and analysis with historical data and develop a qualitative hypothesis about the driving factors influencing the direction of the industry
  • Benchmarking: Conduct and manage in-depth benchmarking activities to further develop insights discovered through sensing. Analysis where gaps exist to the corresponding Honda product regarding specification and performance differences, correlate and manage with function department technical leaders to develop testing specification and criteria in order to perform
  • Represent and bring Purchasing's perspective in Project Leader meetings and related negotiations with outside stakeholder, including findings from internal and external consulting
  • Support creation project budgets and present reports through the Evaluation process to the leadership team
  • Create, maintain, and manage project schedule (SAP) to meet overall schedule milestones and ensure project timing will meet production launch.
  • Identify, plan and implement required resources needed for project activity
  • Mentor Project Leaders within group on problem solving, procedures, and fostering development

Who we are seeking:

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering with relevant experience

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years experience depending upon education/degree and work experience

Other Job-Specific Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Honda SED flow,
  • Strong project management experience, technical analysis,
  • Strength in problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, good organization skills, leadership experience,
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to select the best solution for the organization and the business (win-win)
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with design and purchasing divisions.
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
  • Ability to work with ambiguity in a fast paced environment

Additional Position Factors:

  • Domestic and International (avg length of 1-2 weeks) travel may be requested (10%)
  • Willingness to work overtime due to the cyclical business needs of our NM schedule
  • Open office environment with moderate level of noise and activity
  • Hybrid (60% in office /40%bremote) Blended remote work based on management discretion and operating needs
  • Regular occurrence of communicating and presenting information in groups and to Honda management for evaluation purposes.
