NexGen Data Systems is seeking a talented Mid - Network Engineer with experience in operating complex WAN and LAN environments supporting networks running a variety of different routing and encryption protocols (BGP, OSPF, IPSec) along with experience operating stateful inspection and next generation firewalls. The ideal candidate would be well versed in Cisco security platforms with an understanding of networking concepts along with strong customer service skills. The candidate will be expected to have understanding of large-scale WANs and associated technologies (i.e., monitoring, security, network automation) as they relate to providing a secure, reliable, fault-tolerant network. The candidate will join a team of Engineers and work in a collaborative data center environment supporting day-to-day operations as well as long-term projects. Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or other vendor-based network certifications are required. Previous exposure to scripting and software defined networking is a plus, but not required. This is a HYBRID role based out of Charleston, SC. This role will require 1 to 3 days per week on site. Roles and Responsibilities:

• Supporting customers in a managed services / hosted equipment environment.
• Execution of customer ServiceNow tickets/service requests.
• Support internal upgrades system changes with network team in an Agile environment.
• Ensure network hardware and software are maintained and updated along with preventative maintenance.
• Work with implemented standards and design patterns / paradigms for system development within a team.
• Actively participate in the planning and implementation of network infrastructure and related software.
• Contribute to assessments of proposed system designs in response to business or technical drivers.
• Contribute to technical documentation including system design documentation, deployment/build plans, and test plans.
• Applying and management of appropriate security settings to support DoD environment and regulations.
• Onsite SIPR support as required. • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics.
• 6+ years of direct hands-on experience developing and supporting large-scale enterprise or service provider networks.
• 3+ years direct hands-on experience supporting large-scale enterprise or service provider networks.
• 1+ years of experience working with WAN technologies such as BGP, MPLS, or LISP is required.

• 1+ years of experience with LAN technologies such as QoS, OSPF, or Spanning Tree.

• 1+ years of experience in the documentation and diagramming of complex network environments is required.

• Experience in the DoD STIG security requirements is desired.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-functional team environment (team player) is a must.
• A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority.

• Eagerness to learn with a quality, detailed focus is essential.

• Ability to collaborate with awareness and responsiveness to customer needs.

• Travel as required.

• Must be able to support 24/7 operations.

• Commitment to continuous development and improvement.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Must meet DoD 8570 compliance (IAT level II) Cybersecurity and OS Certification required.
