Job Title Needlebond Technician Lead Position Overview Position Overview: Work with Pilot Plant Management and Needlebond Requesters to assign (and help) Needlebond Technicians to produce samples to Research & Development management for evaluation. Position Objectives: To lead production of prototype samples for internal and external customers. Essential Duties: Lead Technicians on off shifts with minimal or no Management physically present. Organize projects as assigned by Management. Organize maintenance repairs with Maintenance (Plant 19 and DJ). Install boards to complete specified construction Run pilot samples according to the specifications on setup sheet. Perform routine maintenance such as replacing worn parts such as pullies, belts, etc. Operate machine tools Operate sample card for color matching. Operate Lab line for confirmation and specified samples. Operate structure machine for specified pattern. Operate Ovens (Needlebond & Tufted Coater) Assist in samples produced on production equipment (Plant DJ). Report any unsafe equipment, machinery, or conditions to the supervisor immediately. Report quality problems to supervision immediately. Maintain fiber inventory to complete samples. Utilize skill to do the total job in a logical and skillful manner (i.e., analyze problems; make decisions; take necessary actions and assist others) exercising caution to ensure Safety is never compromised. This includes maintaining good housekeeping on and around the job site. Must be a certified hyster driver. Must be approved to operate Shaw vehicles (Van). Requirements: Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in Needlebond. Lead and/or supervisor experience preferred. Use a hyster as needed to move yarn, rolls, etc. Able to perform basic math involving percentages in blend formulations. Must demonstrate the ability to learn technical procedures quicky. Training requirements: Supervisor Training. Lift Truck Training. SAFE Program Training SDS (Safety Data Sheet) - Safe System Training. Hearing Protection EAP/PEO- Emergency Action Plan J.H.A.-Job Hazard Analysis Lockout Tagout Procedures. Tools, Equipment, & Material Requirements: Responsible for all equipment issued. (Hearing Protection, snips, aprons, doff ring, locks, and lockout devices) Various Needlebond machines and carding related equipment. Various hand tools such as screwdriver, wrenches, ratchets, air hose, etc Gears, pulleys, belts, and other machine parts. Safety & Security Requirements: To help ensure the safety of you and others. S.D.S.- Safety Data Sheet Must always wear hearing protection in designated areas of the plant. No smoking on the Campus Must assure conformance to hair length safety requirements. Must always wear the required safety equipment while operating machinery. Must conform to safety requirements as specified in the Shaw Industries' Safety Rules and Regulations.
