Duties You will present technical information to management officials for use in decision making. You will coordinate natural resources planning requirements for an organization in compliance with provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Endangered Species Act (ESA). You will direct technical evaluations for environmental engineering or scientific studies to correct environmental deficiencies. You will collaborate with various entities (e.g., regulatory and resource agencies, regional planning agencies, universities) to protect and secure an organization's natural, biological, or cultural resources. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conserving endangered species and threatened species by collaborating with government agencies (for example, Endangered Species Act section 7 consultations with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or the National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries); Writing/reviewing Biological Assessments under the Endangered Species Act; Interpreting environmental regulations to solve a wide variety of complex technical issues (for example: the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act and/or other environmental regulations); and Providing training and mentoring to other environmental and/or technical staff in other organizations. The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that could involve working outdoors in adverse weather conditions or that may require special safety precautions while in the presence of construction or industrial operations and operating equipment. Employees may be required to use protective clothing, or gear, such as hard hats, coats, boots, goggles, gloves and shields.
