This position is a regular part-time position scheduled 30 hours or less per week including weekends, holidays, and special events. May occasionally work at other JIA retail locations

The Jekyll Island Retail Operations Division is currently seeking outgoing, responsible, and energetic Guest Service staff to represent Jekyll Island and enhance the visitor experience at Mosaic, the Jekyll Island Museum. Under limited supervision, the Gift Shop Guest Service responsibilities include, but are not limited to providing exceptional customer service to visitors, performing sales transactions, maintaining the appearance and stock items of the Gift Shop. This Gift Shop Guest Service position is part-time year-round and requires flexible scheduling including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Hours and days will vary.


Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills, responds to guest inquiries in a professional manner.
Demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm, and self-motivation.
Operates point of sale system for retail sales, admissions, tours, donations, etc.
Deposits all receipts, completes verification of deposit records, and ensures all monies are accounted for.
Provides visitors with information in a helpful and courteous manner.
Participates in training activities to optimize customer service skills.
Restock inventory and maintain a clean and orderly sales floor.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years retail/customer service experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office preferred.
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.
Reliable and punctual attendance.
Credit and Criminal background check required.
Valid driver's license required; will be required to travel between gift shops and other JIA buildings and property.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and/or up-to 15 pounds frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
More than 50% of a typical workday will be spent walking, standing, balancing (standing on and using 1-2 steps), reaching, using fingers to handle objects such as money, and using repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, and fingers.
Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday will be spent stooping (bending at the waist) and lifting.
Less than 25% of the day is spent kneeling, crouching, sitting, pushing, and pulling
Sensory abilities required include vision, hearing, and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating; talking, and hearing.
Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and figures, use the computer, and expansive reading.
Majority of work is performed indoors, on occasion may be subjected to extreme heat and adverse weather including rain and/or cold temperatures.
Noise level is considered normal to loud.
Work is subjected to hazards; moving vehicles.
